What You'll Do

Responsible for managing supply planning and logistics strategy for our Houston facility. Additionally, will work closely with operations in order to maximize the process efficiency and productivity. Manages activities related to the timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, planning and quality control of production materials . Play a crucial role in developing and maintaining good relationships with vendors and distributors. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs and coordinates supply chain functions through strategy, resource optimization, profitability, and KPIs resulting in the maximization of customer satisfaction
  • Manages site procurement activities and supplier programs, including raw materials, outside services (OSV), expense items, Kanban Replenishment, Consigned Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) Programs, etc.
  • Manages production planning and works with operations to ensure that on-time delivery, cycle time and fill rate goals are met
  • Leads the team in executing best practices and measuring performance through agreed upon Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Implements and maintains service alerts to site leadership for material issues which are impacting the team’s ability to support value stream production and customer commitments
  • Plans, manages, and coordinates all activities related to the procurement of necessary materials and supplies needed to meet the changing levels of product demand
  • Works with plant, warehouse, and logistics departments to determine and set up intercompany transfers
  • Works directly with Field Inventory Management to determine most cost-effective distribution solution for finished goods storage and transportation to customers
  • Monitors and corrects inventory levels at outside warehouses and internally to ensure rotation and maximize working capital
  • Works with freight forwards and transportation companies to set best route and rate (reviews and approves all freight terms and agreements)
  • Supports proper utilization of ERP systems (Infor, NetSuite)
  • Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions of large scope and complexity.
  • Lead material management efforts to reduce shortages and set appropriate controls maintaining strategic inventory levels
  • Sources and supplies raw materials, utilities and outside services.
  • Responsible for inventory accuracy (raw, outside services, WIP and finished goods) and cycle count programs. Works closely with Operations, Finance, and Demand Management to maintain appropriate inventory levels to meet customer demand while meeting financial objectives
  • Responsible for training and career development of Supply Chain associates
  • Explores new technologies and processes, to reduce non-value-added procurement and planning activities
  • Works cross-functionally with finance/accounting/audit on complex matters involving inventory costs and audits
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain/Logistics, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of supply chain, logistics, or warehouse management experience

  • 5+ years of experience in a managerial role with demonstrated ability in performance management

  • Proven ability to develop strategic plans and deploy tactical level execution plans for associates

  • Must demonstrate a collaborative leadership style which promotes teamwork and excellence

  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment

  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, projecting a strong customer and associate focus with a positive corporate image

  • Must be tech-savvy with the ability to learn and navigate supply chain management software (such as SAP MM, AP Modules, SAP Plant Maintenance, etc.), Microsoft Office applications, and other software as necessary

  • APIM Certified Production Inventory Management (CPIM) a plus

  • Organized, analytical approach to problem solving and comfortable negotiating across all levels/functions

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, complete deadlines on-time and maintain strong accuracy
