What You'll Do

Job Responsibilities:

• Design components of Insight’s navigation systems for joint replacement including surgical instruments and electronic subsystems
• Conduct validation testing on computer assisted surgery systems and components
• Fabricate and evaluate prototypes of new designs in simulated use
• Perform light assembly and calibration of electro-mechanical devices
• Design fixturing and gaging for product testing and inspection
• Support quality assurance with inspection and disposition of products
• Investigate and support resolution of product complaints and failures
• Observe surgeries or customer meetings to collect feedback for system enhancements
• Assist with company’s commercial operations as needed
• Work with team members to ensure product quality and adherence to company procedures and external regulations

Job Requirements:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or biomedical engineering, engineering mechanics, or related field.  Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree for exceptional candidates.
• Strong CAD skills including 3D modeling and drafting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred:

• 2 years of mechanical design experience
• Orthopedic or other medical device design experience
• Hands-on experience with manufacturing technologies such as milling, turning, and welding
• Able to interpret and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

Physical Activities:

• Ability to lift at least 40 lbs (large inventory boxes, test equipment, etc)

Working Conditions:

• Working conditions are in a laboratory/office setting.  Occasional travel may be required
