Job Summary
Acquires job skills to resolve routine tasks requiring limited judgement. Focus is on routine tasks, using limited judgment of standard operating procedures. Supports the overall team.
Responsibilities
Racks and stacks customer equipment
Installs customer equipment and cabinets
Figures out work priorities from the Siebel queue and ensures alignment to all pre-defined SLAs
Installs/Tests/Modifies/troubleshoots cross connects per SOPs and ensures proper cable management of: fiber, twisted pair copper, coax and intra-building cross connects
Installs and tests advanced cross connects circuits (switched, multiplexed, etc.)
Installs and test Data Center Link cross connects using Fluke and JDSU testers
Ensures test results are aligned with industry standards.
Maintains detailed written records of all work activity
Build, assess and continually improve internal and externally-facing controlled documentation
Supports fulfilment of projects with direction from senior staff
Finishes the assigned training in a timely manner
Supports customer happiness through timely and precise order execution
Responsible for monitoring customer applications and Equinix's operational architecture through the Control Room
Respond to alarms in accordance with Equinix procedures
Perform routine physical tasks associated with the daily upkeep and operational readiness of Equinix's IDC environment
Conduct tape rotation tasks daily
Qualifications
Essential
Experience in Customer Service, Operation Centres or Datacentres
Experience of Copper / Fibre Cabling techniques (Installation, Termination & Testing)
Willingness to work a 24/7 shift rota that includes day and night shifts
Baseline Knowledge of LAN (Ethernet) and network protocols such as TCP/ IP
Desirable
Knowledge of Datacentre environments
Extensive computer knowledge and familiarity (Windows platform)
Previous ISP or Telco Background
Baseline Knowledge of network, facilities and security-oriented monitoring systems
Degree in IT preferred or equivalent experience
