Job Summary
The EHS Compliance Analyst plays a key role in supporting the adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies within the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) framework. This entry-level position involves assisting in the analysis, interpretation, and resolution of compliance-related issues, with a focus on learning and professional development. Routine tasks will be performed under guidance, with opportunities for mentorship on more complex assignments. This role is ideal for individuals seeking hands-on experience and building a solid foundation in EHS compliance practices. The EHS Compliance Analyst will report to the North American EHS Manager/AMER Sr. Manager.
Responsibilities
Audits & Certifications
Assist in site-level support for internal and external compliance audits, participating as a co-auditor to ensure thorough execution
Help manage open findings for assigned sites, collaborating with site teams to provide guidance and support for timely resolutions
Contribute to the development and maintenance of site-specific tools and documentation to meet EHS compliance objectives and ISO certification requirements
Support the preparation of compliance reports for local management, including key performance indicators, with guidance from senior team members
Management Systems
Participate in spot audits of EHS and certification records, working with site personnel to ensure timely updates and ongoing compliance
Provide support for management review meetings, contributing to discussions and documentation as needed
Assist in ensuring adherence to Equinix policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal legislative requirements
Help maintain EHS compliance records local and global repositories, including those relevant to Equinix policies, regulatory compliance, and ISO standards
Serve as a point of contact for internal tools, addressing basic queries and assisting in their optimization for compliance objectives
Training
Assist in conducting and implementing compliance training to meet organizational and regulatory requirements, while tracking completion rates
Stay informed about compliance developments affecting the region and assist in implementing necessary changes
Support the delivery of training for Operations teams on internal tools, policies, and procedures
Help coordinate with translation vendors to localize policies/procedures and training materials for regional needs
Pursue continuous education and certifications to enhance EHS expertise and meet role-specific requirements
Regional/Site Level Responsibilities
Support IBX EHS activities at assigned regional data centers in Philadelphia, Washington DC metro, and Boston
Assist IBX Managers with implementing site-level compliance policies and processes, ensuring alignment with global requirements
Help manage site-level communications, including addressing requests for assistance, questions, incident reports, and reports of non-compliance
Support incident and compliance investigations by assisting in identifying root causes and ensuring thorough documentation
Assist in ensuring compliance for new site expansions with regulatory and Equinix requirements
Help oversee the application and adherence of designated permits and plans (e.g., Air, Spill Prevention, Chemical Reporting) for assigned sites
Serve as a point of contact between assigned sites and regulatory agencies
Assist in evaluating workplace changes, processes, equipment, and substances for compliance with Equinix policies, recommending corrective actions as necessary
Collaborate on process improvement initiatives and compliance projects for assigned sites, working with regional and global stakeholders
Qualifications
Associate's or bachelor's degree in environmental health & safety (EHS), or a related field, or relevant experience in EHS within a data center environment
Basic knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS regulations specific to the assigned region
Familiarity with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and regulatory compliance requirements is a plus
Some experience with compliance audits, documentation management, and process initiatives is preferred but not required
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels in a global team environment
Bilingual French written and verbal communication highly preferred
Self-motivated, proactive, able to work with guidance on routine tasks
Willingness to travel monthly to support audits, training, or-specific initiatives between data centers in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Kamloops, Ottawa, Saint John and Vancouver
