Manager, Controls Engineering

Job Summary
Based in our Miami location, you will join two Control Engineers already based in Miami, with responsibility for our Atlanta locations and two Atlanta-base Controls Engineers as well.
Responsibilities
Coordinate the efforts of team members with in-house corporate design engineering staff, data center critical facilities engineering staff, other Equinix personnel, outside support vendors and consultants
Develop and implement strategy to achieve key business objectives
Lead a team response for operations, maintenance and full ownership of Building Management systems to include hardware, software, networking, servers (VMs (Virtual Machines)), etc
Effectively communicate strategic decisions with Equinix partners
Implement controls system strategies and standard methodologies from global to regional policy and procedures
Provides leadership and direction through individual contributor domain experts
Accountable for the performance and results of the team
Lead all aspects of personnel details and development. Develop and empower team members and get results
Lead and develop team on sophisticated, cross-regional projects including goal setting, schedules, alignment to project timelines, resource management and customer communication
Review existing controls systems for single points of failure or other system weaknesses. Provide recommendations and cost estimates for remediation. Develop methods for others to do the same
Participate in industry organizations and influences industry opinions
Responsible for controls team budget
Use safe working practices at an expert level. Evaluate and assure the safe working practices of others
Travel, primarily within the United States and other assignments as the need arises
Respond to emergency incidents on an as needed basis
Qualifications
Extensive professional experience in control system design, operations, maintenance, and project planning with an emphasis & special focus on data center or mission critical systems
A bachelor's degree in an Engineering/Technology field to include Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electronics, Computer Science, Controls/Automation or similar preferred
Must be conversant with direct digital control (DDC) systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and SCADA system debugging and programming
Experience in large-scale Aveva System Platform deployments preferred
Experience in Rockwell Automation to include FactoryTalk and Allen-Bradley PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) preferred
Knowledgeable in industrial controls security standards and best practices
Knowledge and experience with human centered design (situational awareness) design practices
Must be able to understand and design control strategies and architecture using Sequence of Operation and P&ID drawings, SAMA diagrams or equivalent
Ability to identify, analyze, and tackle ambiguous problems
Zeal for continuous learning and love of teaching
Ability to travel and be on-call
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to compose technical and position papers for publication internal and external to the company
Residing in or willing to relocate to Ashburn VA

Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training. This position may be offered in other locations.
