    Job Summary

    As a Service Design Intern, you will join Equinix's growing Service Design team and support the transformation of experiences across our Global Operations and Design and Construction organization. This role is designed to provide hands-on exposure to Service Design, Experience Design, and Design Operations within a real business environment.

    You will work closely with a Senior Service Designer and collaborate with a broader design team including UX Designers and UX Researchers, Design System Designers as well as partners across the business. Through this experience, you will gain practical knowledge of service design methodologies, contribute to ongoing Operations Excellence initiatives, support to design operations standards for service designers and develop an understanding of Equinix's business domain from the inside.

    Responsibilities

    Service Design Engagements (50%)

    • Assist in creating service design deliverables such as customer journey maps, service blueprints, and research summaries / documentation

    • Participate in design workshops, brainstorming sessions, and stakeholder meetings

    • Help gather and synthesize user and stakeholder insights to identify pain points and opportunities

    • Support UX research activities, such as note-taking, coordination, and basic analysis

    • Help prepare materials for presentations and internal communications

    • Learn and apply design thinking and service design methodologies in real-world scenarios

    Service Design Operations (50%)

    • Assist with improving workflows and optimizing the use of design tools (e.g., Miro, Lucid)

    • Contribute to the standardization of strategic mapping artifacts and documentation

    • Support Continuous Discovery practices through research tracking and organization

    • Help document processes and maintain internal knowledge resources

    • Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for improving efficiency and consistency

    Qualifications

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Service Design, User Experience, Strategy Design, Business, Psychology, or a related field

    • Strong interest in Service Design, Experience Design, or Design Operations

    • Familiarity (academic or personal projects) with tools such as Figma, Miro, Lucid, or similar

    • Strong communication and collaboration skills

    • Comfortable with ambiguity and eager to contribute to problem-solving

    • Experience with journey mapping, research, or design projects is a plus

    • Experience from larger organizations/ projects with larger organizations is a plus
