VP of Technical Solutions - GTST

Job Summary:

  • VP of Technical Solutions is a  global leadership role that provides strategic vision, thought leadership and robust management to specialized pre-sales technical teams focused on the development of key technical strategies and programs across the organization.  

  • Builds a high performing specialized global technical pre-sales organization able to achieve superior results. Direct leadership of the GTST strategic teams - Global Principles, Channel, Solution Validation Center and PMs 

  • The objective of the VPTS role is to create scale sales motions through the strategic teams to generate opportunities and programs that scale for the CCRO org in CORE and Digital Bus as well as develop and maintain a top talent, technically relevant and savvy, diverse technical sales team in partnership with cross functional leaders and orgs

  • VPTS is responsible for creating and implementing strategy and technical solutions for sales that enable maximum yield for Platform NEXT  via the optimization of CORE and DIGITAL products

  • VPTS is a thought leader internally and externally creating technical communications for the GTST and broader sales org as well as Industry forums and publications that evangelize and advance the Equinix value proposition for industry leaders, customers, and prospects  

Responsibilities:

Lead Global Principal team 

  • Highest level pre-sales solution architects responsible for developing technology solutions strategy, vetting partner offerings, expanding global solution ecosystem, setting technical standards, and implementing practices that result in scale offerings and solutions that ensure the best outcomes for our customers for both CORE and Digital products 

  • Lead the development of new and expanded solutions using new technologies in order to scale new capabilities on platform Equinix 

  • Enable technical evolution and capabilities in scale projects (Hybrid multicloud, networking, metal, security etc) transformational in nature 

  • Lead GTST alignment with the product groups globally  

Leads global Channel GTST alignment in partnership with Channel leaders 

  • Focus on tech enablement for scale of priority partners

  • Assesses new technologies and suggests paths of adoption for GTST and Sales 

  • Develop programs and solutions that scale in CSO for new strategic bookings and revenue retention as well as new solution adoption 

  • Showcases the visionary work and results of the GP team 

Leads Solution Validation Center Team (SVC) 

  • Design POC and lab environment to test customer applications and requirements on platforms

  • Design SVC physical, space, power and subscription requirements optimally using the most advanced efficient physical and digital assets  

  • Manage additions, upgrades expansion 

  • Manage budget and POs for SVC Globally 

  • Evaluates and scales technical programs globally for CORE and Digital 

  • Evaluates channel partner programs for operability and scale 

  • Works with GP team and PM team on inputs and executions for SVC 

  • Partners with sales leaders to advertise and vet SVC POCs to create solutions for scale and significant opportunities for closure 

  • Showcases the visionary work and results of the SVC 

Leads Project and Program Management Team (PM) 

  • Sets the strategy, objectives and aligns PM team to high value technical pre-sales programs for management 

  • Reviews implementation of projects, solutions and tools including project type, scope and expected results  

  • Ensures the readiness Planning, Development & Delivery of tech solutions that are managed 

  • Ensures successful delivery of programs through collaboration with GTST Team embers, sales team members and other stakeholders 

  • Complex Deal Presales & Delivery Support for CORE and Digital 

  • Reviews and manages Technical Standards & Quality Enablement 

  • Manages tracking and results of strategic objectives for GTST 

  • Showcases the work of the PM team in creating and managing scale programs and complex signature deployments 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Manages the working relationships with all GTM sales teams, Regional Leadership Teams, Marketing, Product and GCCX organizations (partners with  SVP, VP throughout company) to execute technical sales solutions  

  • Attracts, recruits, trains, and retains exceptional technical sales talent 

  • Inspires, motivates, and maintains a culture that optimizes the passion and potential of the GTST team with a DIB focus 

  • Provides coaching and mentoring, knowledge and technical pre-sales efforts to increase traction, client penetration, learning and sales 

  • Provides leadership, guidance, and development to GTST leaders and individual contributors 

  • Defines metrics to measure performance of specialized technical pre-sales activities in partnership with Sales Operations 

  • Coaches in applying sales discipline and results oriented mindset to all team members 

  • Ensures the development of technical programs that win against the competition in partnership with sales GTM teams globally 

What W****e Are Looking For

  • Focus on tech enablement for scale of priority partners 

  • Assesses new technologies and suggests paths of adoption for GTST and Sales 

  • Develop programs and solutions that scale in CSO for new strategic bookings and revenue retention as well as new solution adoption 

  • Showcases the visionary work and results of the GP team 

  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience as technologist in digital services, network and/or connectivity industry. Strong understanding of infrastructure and physical colocation.   

  • Systems thinker, creative, innovative mindset, strong high level business acumen, robust accountability discipline/history, leader of high performing teams focused on business results  

  • Customer oriented – history of robust customer focus and understanding of customer needs 

  • Technical and sales experience in enterprise and service provider verticals 

  • Strong knowledge of physical and digital services: cloud, infrastructure, SAAS etc, networking services, connectivity and colocatio 

  • Deep Global knowledge to include top clients, partners, industry trends coupled with regional nuances, customs and language 

  • Proven execution of strategy to create scale programs with partners and sales orgs 

  • Followership - Inspire, motivate, and maintain a culture that optimizes the passion and potential of the GTST team where all feel safe and included 

  • Leadership and coaching skills to build a high performing technical pre-sales organization able to achieve superior program results 

  • Client relationship and development skills to build advocacy and sponsorship 

  • Talent Attractor who recruits, trains, and retains exceptional talent w/ diversity focus 

  • Superior partner developer for direct and indirect sales channels, Regional Leadership Teams, Marketing and Customer organizations
