An entry-level position operating/supervising the Transmission System for the System Operations Supervisor classification. Provides the incumbent with the experience and training necessary to meet the requirements to advance to the level of System Operations Supervisor. Become knowledgeable of the generation, transmission, and sub-transmission system components, nomenclature, and general operating procedures as well as the switching and tagging procedures outlined in the appropriate Participant directives. Has limited accountability and authority commensurate with the abilities and experience as defined in the position description entitled System Operations Supervisor. Any duties performed must be done under the guidance of the System Operations Supervisor. This is a union position under IBEW Local 457.

Requirements

• An Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, or two years of formal technical training beyond high school or the equivalent.
• At least three years of related experience, including work in generating stations, electrical maintenance, power system protection, and control, electrical system line work, or power system dispatching.
• NERC Transmission Operator Certification is required prior to completion of the probationary period.
• Ability to analyze information, determine relevant facts, prioritize actions and make decisions accordingly.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with people at various levels of the organization in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
• Mathematical reasoning ability and ability to work with computer-based applications to perform computational/analytical type work.
• Ability to handle increasingly complex training assignments including the performance of varied tasks designed to provide experience and familiarization with system operations while on a rotating shift.

Successful completion of the Psychological Services of Pittsburgh Assessments is a requirement to be selected for this position.
