Facebook is seeking a highly motivated, team player to serve as Counsel, M&A, Licensing & Open Source. The position will cover a wide range of areas in IP, including strategy and counseling, open source licensing, technology transactions, standards organizations, and M&A. This is a great opportunity to join a growing legal team and to work on novel issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment.

• Open source licensing, compliance, and diligence
• Managing participation in standards organizations
• Advise on IP issues in M&A and other transactions
• Provide advice and negotiate IP licensing terms in technology transactions

• Interface with engineers and project managers on technical issues

• JD degree (or foreign equivalent) with membership in at least one US state bar
• 3+ years of legal experience
• Open source licensing experience
• Technology transactions and product counseling experience (hardware and software)

• Interest in and aptitude for understanding complex software and hardware engineering practices and systems

• M&A experience as an IP specialist
• Standards organization experience

• Computer science or engineering degree (or equivalent experience)
