Facebook is seeking an individual to lead a new cross-functional effort focused on privacy. This position will be responsible for driving and landing our privacy commitments and narrative in the market. The focus of this role will be on building alignment across the entire Facebook family of apps and collaborating with central policy, legal, and marketing teams along with app specific stakeholders.The successful candidate is motivated by building consensus and being a stakeholder in our privacy narrative and strategy. They should excel in knowing when to lead or support a cross-functional team and bring out views from all disciplines. While this role is not technical in nature, it requires a keen understanding of how our platform is constructed and the ability to dive deep into a technical feature in order to educate external and internal parties. Being data-driven is also a key component to this role as building consensus requires strong quantitative reasoning and an ability to structure qualitative feedback into an overarching viewpoint. As the definition of privacy is evolving in technology, the right candidate will also be an avid learner in areas like accountability, designing with privacy in mind and how new technology innovations will further push the need for privacy focused strategies. This role is highly cross-functional and will work closely with the Business Marketing, Communications, Consumer Marketing, Policy, Product and User Research teams.
- Shape internal and external framing/narratives for cross-company privacy work (i.e. regulatory requirements with the FTC and GDPR)
- Understand product implications of the most critical industry trends regarding privacy
- Understand and synthesize implications of regulatory trends and competitive practices around privacy and privacy influencer ecosystem developments to shape product development and compliance priorities
- Build cross-company frameworks for shaping product privacy requirements (i.e. privacy taxonomies and definitions)
Partner with the Business Marketing, Communications, Consumer Marketing, Policy, Product, User Research and other key teams
- 7+ years experience with 3+ years experience working in a communications, product marketing, product strategy or equivalent function (partnered with product management and/or engineering to represent market requirements)
BA/BS degree
- Experience managing products and policies that involve data use and privacy
- Experience in building and supporting product solutions for highly regulated industries (i.e finance, healthcare, etc.)
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally and building consensus among multiple stakeholders in an entrepreneurial, high-expectation environment
- Scrappy, resourceful, action and detail-oriented, with a high ownership mindset to deliver measurable impact
- Quantitative analytical experience and communication skills
