Facebook Reality Labs is building novel ways of user interaction with AR/VR. We are looking for an intern with experience conducting HCI research in the space of building interaction techniques on top of existing hardware and sensors using one or more of interaction technique design, human factors, computational modeling, haptics, and machine learning.You will work with world-leading collaborators and mentors in the HCI, haptics, sensing, AR/VR and machine learning fields.
- Plan and execute cutting-edge research developing novel input interactions and building prototypes using the tools and techniques described above.
- Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and designers across disciplines to solve complex problems and evaluate the effectiveness of developed solutions through user studies.
Work with leading academic researchers to produce publishable research that appears in top-tier journals or at leading international conferences in the HCI field.
- Currently pursuing PhD in the field of human-computer interaction (HCI), computer science, or similar. (In rare cases, Master's candidates with excellent research experience may be considered.)
- 2+ years of experience with scientific programming languages such as Python and/or C++/C#.
- Proven track record of achieving research results and innovation as demonstrated by first-authored peer-reviewed publications and/or patents.
- Interpersonal skills: cross-group collaboration and cross-culture collaboration.
Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
- Experience with building and researching interaction techniques (Eg. pointing, manipulation, text-input, gestures etc.).
- Experience with wearable device interactions research
- Experience with one or more of computational interaction, haptics, sensing/hardware, and machine learning
- Familiarity with AR/VR technologies and literature.
