Position summary

Job Description THE OPPORTUNITY: Freedom Financial Network's Legal Department seeks an experienced lawyer to support its rapidly growing and successful finance team. The successful candidate will report to our Associate General Counsel and work closely with our award-winning capital markets team. We seek a lawyer with expertise in financial transactions and who has the desire and ability to learn new areas of business and law and work on a broad array of legal matters. The ability to work effectively with business leadership and the flexibility to manage a wide range of innovative projects proficiently is essential to this role. THE ROLE: - Provide counsel and support to Freedom's capital markets team, including asset-backed securitizations, warehouse financings and other financial transactions. - Work with business partners to review and negotiate a broad array of contracts, including contracts with Freedom's bank partners and loan investors, vendor contracts and non-disclosure agreements. - Support the rapid growth of the Freedom business by identifying and consulting on other potential finance opportunities. - Assist our growing business by evaluating, negotiating, and consummating potential acquisition opportunities. - Work closely with the General Counsel and Associate General Counsel to support corporate governance for the Freedom businesses, including quarterly board meetings for our parent company. - Partner collaboratively to identify issues and share potential concerns and ideas with team members. - Provide strategic support for compliance, risk and internal audit groups. - Monitor the external environment for changing laws and regulations and/or industry standards. - The preferred candidate would work out of our San Mateo, California, or Tempe, Arizona office, but remote opportunities may be considered. REQUIREMENTS: - JD. with excellent academic credential. - State bar member in good standing. - At least 4-8 years of legal experience, including foundational training in a national law firm and/or in-house legal department experience. - Experience drafting and negotiating commercial and/or financial contracts. - Ability and desire to develop expertise in new or unfamiliar areas of law. - A business and solution-oriented approach to resolving issues. - Excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytic skills. - Desire to pitch in and to learn new areas of the business and legal practice. - Propensity to thrive in a fast-paced environment and successfully manage deadlines with limited supervision. - Comfort in an innovative, "test-and-learn" culture. - Impeccable integrity. DESIRED EXPERIENCE/ CHARACTERISTICS - Experience in supporting sophisticated financial transactions, such as asset-backed securitizations and warehouse financings. - Familiarity with investment funds and applicable laws and rules. - Familiarity with applicable securities laws (e.g., the 33' Act, the 34' Act, and the 40' Act) - Familiarity with consumer finance laws and regulations, including The Fair Lending Act, TILA/Reg.
