At GDIT, we foster a people-centric environment. As a Data Engineer Junior, you will be trusted to work on projects related to the role. In this role, a typical day will include:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Import new data sets into an existing search application.
Perform ad hoc data engineering and analysis.
Create new applications for analyzing, querying and displaying documents and property graphs.
Work with users to define their data requirements and to assist with ad hoc data analysis.
Troubleshoot complex problems and provide support for software systems and application issues.
Work alongside other engineers on the team to sustain and advance the organization’s capabilities.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Undergraduate or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience.
Two or more years of experience in data engineering, from the design of a common data format to the data pipelines that extract, transform, normalize and load the data.
Two or more years of hands-on development with C/C++, C#, or Java in Microsoft Windows environment.
Expertise with SQL programming.
Demonstrated success in developing software applications through all stages, including requirements generation/gathering, data engineering (data extract/transform/load), web service implementation, and user interface.
Proven record of independently learning and applying new technologies.
Ability to deliver on multiple competing priorities with little supervision.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
QUALIFICATIONS
TS/SCI with Polygraph
A minimum of 2 years of in-depth data engineering experience.
A minimum of 2 years of hands-on development with C/C++, C# or Java in Microsoft Windows environment.
Proven ability to work with both technical team members and non-technical users.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Knowledge of Python.
Experience with entity resolution across data sets.
Experience with Oracle databases, and specifically Oracle Text.
Expertise with SQL.
Experience with link/graph analysis.
In depth experience with building text search applications.
Experience with Linux.
