Job Description:

General Dynamics Information Technology is currently seeking a full-time Airport Safety Technician for our office at the FAA’s William J Hughes Technical Center to support the Airport Technology Research and Development Branch (ATR) in conducting testing and evaluations of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) detection and mitigation technologies/systems for airports. The research conducted by ATR is highly visible with evolving objectives that have a high impact to airport safety and the National Airspace System (NAS). This position is located in Atlantic City Airport – William J. Hughes Technical Center.

Shall possess at least 5 years of specialized electrical/mechanical/fabrication experience maintaining facilities, assets and infrastructure, and constructing project related mockups, equipment, demonstrations or prototype devices as per requested by the FAA, as provided through test plans, standard engineering drawings, or other sources. This candidate shall be self-motivated, and have demonstrated the ability to work without supervision/direction from senior project personnel, and have demonstrated the ability to produce technical written documentation to project manager personnel to support the generation of technical reports or documents. Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and/or optical areas. Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems. Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format.
