Job Description:

The Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) aims to conduct biomedical research that is responsive to Department of Defense (DOD) and US Army requirements and delivers life-saving products including knowledge, technology and medical material that sustain the combat effectiveness of the Warfighter. Our team is seeking technical expertise to provide support to WRAIR’s Center for Military Psychiatry and Neuroscience Research (CMPN) CMPN is a translational and expeditionary effort to identify and eliminate brain health threats to Soldiers. CMPN investigates and manipulates the relationship between sleep and performance, performs behavioral health assessments to inform unit Commanders on Soldier behavioral health needs, and develops and implements resilience trainings. On a parallel track are efforts to identify and treat traumatic brain injury as well as understand the impact of repeated blast exposure.

Specifically, our team is seeking a Training Specialist to support the Research Transition Office (RTO) within CMPN. The RTO translates research to the operational environment by developing, evaluating, and disseminating knowledge products for Soldiers

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for program evaluations and research activities within the RTO to develop, assess, and transition psychological health products intended to improve warfighter wellness.
  • Provide assessment of current curriculum and training needs, and develop and deliver the updated materials. .
  • Design and produce training and marketing materials for RTO evaluations and products including videos, student and instructor booklets, posters, brochures, and website(s).
  • Conduct and modify the training as needed until the skills are being successfully taught.
  • Provide assistance with updating training program materials currently managed within the Research Transition Office (RTO).
  • Coordinate with Army field units to conduct initial training to verify that the skills targeted in the training program are taught as designed.

  • Develop comprehensive lesson plans to ensure that the training is uniform across the Army once the final training packets have been developed and initial testing has been conducted.
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders such as the Army Resilience Directorate (ARD), Military Operational Medicine Research Program (MOMRP), Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Forces Command (FORSCOM), and other operational unit leadership to ensure support for the program. Coordination may involve attending a few small conferences.
  • Travel to perform on-site data collections and training observations with host units and assist with coordinating these data collections with select points of contact at such units.
  • Design and produce training and marketing materials for the RTO including videos, student and instructor booklets, posters, and brochures.
  • Designs and conducts military training programs.
  • Monitors and reports the effectiveness of training during an initial period and for a defined period.
  • May be involved in initial plan design and existing plan enhancements.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area and a minimum of 10 years of experience Developing and Conducting Military Training or in a related area such as Communications, Program Evaluation, or Consulting.

Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the Training field.
