Job Description:

As an Training Specialist with GDIT, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering training programs using proven adult learning methodologies and techniques in support of a large government healthcare program. In this role, you will design and develop engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and knowledge transfer. If you enjoy directing structured adult learning activities in a task driven environment, you will find this role to be both rewarding and challenging.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and key stakeholders to identify audience’s training needs to establish specification of course, prerequisite skills, and knowledge for trainees
  • Conducts training courses both in person and virtually for professional development and non-technical skills to include lectures, web-based programs, and hands-on sessions
  • Creates instructional goals and content that supports goals by applying tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods
  • Prepare lessons plans including developing and preparing training material such as manuals, handouts, instructor guides, and audio/visual materials
  • Creates visual aids (audio, video, simulations, e-learning modules, role plays, games, tests, etc)
  • Facilitates training classes and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities
  • Stays abreast of training and development research: learning theory, motivation theory, and new materials, methods, and techniques
  • Gathers, reviews, and analyzes course evaluations to determine effectiveness of training sessions; prepares recommendations and provides information to leadership
  • Identifies best method of training delivery based upon training needs

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
  • Two or more years of experience with adult learning techniques and creating lesson plans and curriculum
  • Two or more years of experience managing a Learning Management System
  • Basic HTML and Flash programming knowledge
  • MUST be a US citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent plus 3 years of related experience
  • Training or Instructional Design certification
  • Experience with content development software such as Captivate and Camtasia
  • Visual design skills and experience creating storyboards
