Engineering Apprenticeship – Marine Power Test Facility (MPTF), Whetstone, Leicester
At GE’s Power Conversion business, we are applying the science and systems of power conversion to help drive the electric transformation of the world’s energy infrastructure.
As an apprentice at GE Power Conversion, you will join an Advanced Apprenticeship Programme in our Engineering Department.
This position will be based at MPTF in Leicester, but the candidate will be a member of the wider Apprenticeship Programme based in Rotating Machines (RM) Rugby, including attending Warwickshire college for their educational qualifications, joining in with wider, company organised, Apprentice activities and share hands on practical training with the Engineering Department in our RM in Rugby.
The candidate will work closely with members of the Engineering department and the wider operations and test teams. This is an excellent opportunity to earn money while attaining a recognised qualification.
Our apprentices follow a four-year training scheme, the first of which is spent “off the job” at a Warwickshire College, Rugby. During this year candidates can expect to gain a thorough grounding in the key areas required for a career in modern engineering before returning to Power Conversion.
The following three years will consist of practical training in the various engineering disciplines across all process elements. This presents an excellent opportunity for the candidate to develop hands on-skills and begin a career in engineering.
Candidates will be closely linked to a course of study which will, at a minimum, lead to the attainment of an NVQ level 3 qualification.
What do you need to offer us?
Successful candidates will have / be expecting a minimum of a grade 5 or above in English, Maths and either a Science or Technology based subject.
