    Job Description Summary

    GE Power Gas Turbine Materials and Processes Engineering (MPE) is a global organization providing leadership on development, application and use of all material systems of Industrial Gas Turbines (IGT). This encompasses cast and wrought ferrous and superalloy based materials, metallic and ceramic coatings and technologies used to manufacture and service components made of said materials.
    MPE team in GE Polska looks for an Engineer who will provide guidance on metallurgy and manufacturing of cast and wrought superalloys. Primary focus will be on materials and processes used for castings for turbine module components with possible extension to other components of gas turbines. Role will encompass material selection, manufacturing support, material analyses and definition of actions to improve quality of products. In this role you will work as part of local and global team and be responsible for assignments with of varying complexity.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Engineer/Technologist provides direction and assistance to work group in order to meet assigned objectives. In this role you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
    • Technical support within materials engineering with respect to projects and products focused on cast and wrought superalloy metallurgy.
    • Provide metallurgical support for global (mainly European) sourcing of cast and wrought components for IGT; define requirements based on internal specifications and industrial standards.
    • With guidance disposition of material substitutions and deviations.
    • Participate in materials development programs to support innovative technology introduction in new generations of turbines
    • Execute with some guidance material analyses and testing.
    • Effectively document results and present them in formal and informal reviews, document technical data generated to substantiate the assigned components .

    Required Qualifications

    • MSc/PhD in Materials/Metallurgy or equivalent

    • Good understanding of metallurgy of superalloys

    • Knowledge of manufacturing methods related to cast and wrought superalloy components

    • Understanding interrelations between the material, manufacturing processes, resulting microstructures and mechanical properties

    • Understanding of materials testing methods and evaluation of properties

    • Demonstrated English language written and verbal communication skills including technical English

    • Experience working with and/or supporting a manufacturing environment

      • Self-starter with flexibility to adjust to changing priorities
      • Knowledge of International & National Material Standards (ASTM, AMS, ISO, ASME, etc.)
      • Previous exposure to international work environment in matrixed organization
