Position summary

Job Description Summary

The Outage Manager is a part of APAC Operation organization. In this role, you will be responsible for preparation, planning, leading execution, and close out of planned, emergent and upgrade outages. You will be holding the focal role to support business strategy development and drive consistent outage planning and execution for field fulfilment excellence, and adoption of best practices and lessons learned.

This role will be based in Malaysia, but your geographical coverage will include Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia

The Services Director will be your people leader.

Job Description

What we’ll expect from you

  • Engage early with sales team to know customer’s outages schedule and scope of work, build and optimize JCE for business forecast supporting;
  • Prepare/plan outage schedule, resource, EHS, tooling, consumables, suppliers and cost for outages;
  • Support pre/post-outage meetings with customer and GE internals and share lesson leant for improvement;
  • Plan and execute mobilization and demobilization per site and outage requirement. Support TFA’s immigration application;
  • Act as the main contact between customer and GE to make outage successful during outage period;
  • Manage/track outage Environmental Health Safety (EHS) , quality, cost (JCE vs Actual), schedule (On Time Delivery) and productivity until close out to ensure Fulfilment-5(EHS, Quality, Cost, OTD, Productivity) goal achieved;
  • Ensure outage documentation such as technical procedures, quality procedures, EHS, and customer outage report are prepared, used, reviewed, stored and delivered;
  • Manage scope of work, check site condition, know safety concerns, find potential risks and minimize cost impact for site execution;
  • Find and execute extra work to enhance business opportunities;
  • Support Customer Service Leader (CSL) and sales on technical communication to customer during outage;
  • Actively work to improve and optimize existing processes and look for simplification opportunities;
  • Hold accountable on those tasks or assignments appointed by Service Director and deliver the results expected.

You bring a strong background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science/engineering or equivalent experience in power generation industry.
  • Significant years of applicable experience and demonstrated success/knowledge on steam turbine or generator maintenance (depending on needs)
  • Strong specialized/industry experience of steam turbine generator & auxiliary system outage planning and execution.
  • English proficiency required

Bonus points for

  • Strong Project Management and planning skills (Primavera scheduling tool preferred)
  • PC proficiency, web applications including advanced Excel skills
  • Able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and influencing skill
  • Strong technical and maintenance knowledge of steam turbines and generators
  • Strong team leader in dynamic, energetic and complex customer site environments
  • Ability to work under high pressure and constraint time, committed and process oriented
  • Ability to work multiple project simultaneously and effectively in a cross-functional team
  • Ability to influence stakeholders to deliver customer and business needs
  • GE Field Engineering Program graduate
