Job Description Summary

The product Engineer “Piping and Construction Engineering” will be responsible for the design, specification and order execution of plant piping and valves, specialities like expansion joints, orifices and other inline components, supports, support steel, insulation and electrical heat tracing. In addition, he will manage the hydrostatic pressure test concepts. He will work together with multiple cross functional teams, suppliers and customers to provide all engineering deliverables and material on-time and in high quality to various global construction sites and customers. The role is a main contributor to ensure smooth construction and commissioning of power plants.

Job Description

1.Essential responsibilities

• Issues the Pipe Class Manual based upon process requirements
• Issues the pressure test concept and pressure test P&ID’s
• Issues general plant specifications for valves incl. actuators, instrumentation and insulation
• Manages outsourced turnkey packages, like large GRP main cooling water piping and electrical heat tracing
• Performs piping wall thickness calculations and piping fitting calculations
• Performs insulation thickness calculations and issues insulation specifications
• Assigns pipe specifications to P&ID objects and prepares pipe specifications for 3d modelling
• Assigns inline components to P&ID objects in the engineering database and ensures availability and correctness of the 3d model of these components
• Issues BOQ’s for material ordering, manages delta material and oversees the 100% material scope
• Manages piping prefabrication and ordering of pipe support and pipe support steel
• Prepares the technical documentation related his procurement packages and issues the bid requests
• Participates in supplier Level 2 meetings and agrees with supplier on final technical specification
• Prepares the Technical Tender Analysis for each procurement package
• Issues the Order Request to Purchasing including signed Level 2 documents
• Oversees all PO’s and checks regularly the engineering database for scope changes
• Controls document submission from suppliers
• Issues engineering lists, such as piping list, valve list, insulation / heat tracing list, painting list, etc.
• Ensures consistency between P&ID, engineering database, 3d model, drawings, Pipe Class Manual and PO’s
• Performs supplier inspections and qualifications
• Resolves technical queries and non conformances from customers, suppliers and site
• If applicable, issues the PED and ATEX documentation
• Reviews and issues the Erection- and O&M documentation

2.Qualifications and requirements

• Engineering degree in mechanical process or product engineering

• 8+ years of experience in an engineering environment, preferably in the Power Sector

3.Desired Characteristics

• Familiar with engineering databases and tools, preferably COMOS and Aveva

• Knowledge of design and material standards of ASME and EN
