The Project Leader will be responsible for the timely execution of key initiatives to support the successful start-up of a new joint ventures for gas turbine assembly with Greenville manufacturing origin (in particular, 60 Hz). In this role, you will use your full understanding of Gas Turbine assembly operations to support the joint venture teams. This role is critical to our continued success in the regions (strong focus on KSA, contribution to China & Algeria).

Relocation to Greenville, SC within the USA may become an option.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Project Leader on behalf of the Greenville pitching factory, you will be responsible for helping to build a world-class manufacturing operation that produces outstanding results in safety, quality, fulfillment, cost and cash.  Your principal responsibilities will be:

  • Establishing and executing project plans to build key capabilities in the joint venture.
  • Ensuring that the joint venture teams understand and can apply:  product drawings, process documentation, manufacturing standards, technical specifications, documents of quality control, tooling drawing and techniques.
  • Working closely with Greenville manufacturing team to fully understand and document the Gas Turbine assembly and test process.
  • Educating partner’s personnel on the technical training required in Greenville as well as the technical service required in the supported regions to meet the contract requirements.
  • Being accountable for meeting the quality standards required for successful engineering verification of the manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding product drawings / documentation and relaying this information to global partners
  • Creating quality and manufacturing processes in the support of Gas Turbine manufacturing in order to pass verification testing in country
  • Working cross-functionally with engineering, quality, materials and other teams to create an overall cohesive execution plan
  • Applying Lean concepts to support to optimize the facility layout and operations
  • Collaborating closely with global teammates in the United States, Europe (France, Hungary, Switzerland) and at catcher site (e.g. KSA, China).
  • Presenting to executive audiences
  • Coaching and supporting team members

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain or related technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of five years of experience of manufacturing in global supply chains
  • Knowledge of Gas Turbine assembly operations (60 Hz; Scope/knowledge of GE's Greenville, SC operations/processes)

Eligibility Requirements

  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • Ability to travel globally (25%)

Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledge of Gas Turbine part manufacturing (e.g. HGP, combustor, rotors).
  • Strong background in the interpretation of engineering drawings / specifications and manufacturing processes.
  • Fluent in Arabic (written and verbal)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with diverse team members.
  • Strong background in the interpretation of engineering drawings / specifications and manufacturing processes
  • Self-directed, highly detail oriented, organized, and flexible
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated track record of success in leadership roles in a matrix structure
  • Knowledge of Gas Turbine assembly operations (50 Hz, Belfort scope)
  • Excellent coaching and development skills
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct and teach effectively
