Lead Engineer - Steam Turbine Accessories

• Developing detailed system architecture i.e. Schematics & P&IDs and Data Lists i.e. Pipe, Valve, Instrument, Load list & Signal exchange list, Process design and interface document, Pipe sizing and pipe design pressures and temperatures determination, Simulation of steam seal system & hardware design for various steam systems (Steam seal, steam turbine integral drains, LP admission, Turbine evacuation, CRH line etc.) of various ST products such as D650, A650, A200, D600, & D200 steam turbines for combined cycle power plants globally across various new unit projects i.e. EO, EEP, TKP & TKSI.

• Responsible for developing innovative engineering solutions for ST accessories systems meeting all customer CTQs and GE's design guidelines.

• Preparation of system design documents, calculations and P&ID, operating instructions etc.

• Independently handling customer comments, suppliers, site issues and design reviews (internal and external)

• Taking responsibility of third party engineers (contractor resource) for checking and ensuring SQDC KPI's and their meeting the requirements as per priorities and targets defined

• Develop cost out and CTO/P2V opportunities to improve the competitiveness of GE's product offerings.

• Preparation of GBOM and catalogues and their implementation

• Preparation of Design Practice and updating design standards and Max case Schematics and Standard Outline drawings

• Preparation and compliance to Standard work, standard check-list preparation and updation for customer and manufacturing drawings and vendor documents.

• Create effective connect with key stakeholders such as Customer Application, Project Engineering, Product Definition, Sourcing, ST flange to flange and Requisition teams.

• Participate in risk review meetings and help develop mitigation plans during the OTR phase.

• Executing design and requisition projects as per customer, compliance & site-specific requirements.

• Execute all the deliverables for internal & external customers with strict adherence to project schedule

• Preparing instrument, load, signal change list for various instrumentation.

• Developing and designing products such Gland steam condenser, steam valves, strainer, blowers, heat exchangers, seal steam heater, HP exhaust system etc. with strict adherence to GE & international standards such as TEMA, PED, ASME etc.

• Perform engineering calculations & analyses to size system components (such as Valves, Motors, Blowers etc.)

• Preparation of ordering/functional specifications with strict adherence to project requirements

• Technical evaluation of vendor bids as well evaluating & resolving deviation to standards specifications

• Conducting supplier design reviews, reviewing general arrangement & other vendors documentation and ensuring compliance with GE & Customer requirements/ expectations

• Work closely with internal & external customers for any system design related issue resolution.

• Part of this role will also require to work directly with site to resolve any plant installation and operation related issues to timely achieve commercial operation date.

• Execute system systematic process improvements such as standardization, reducing vendor dependencies, specification updates to avoid recurring issues, cost reduction etc.

• Provide field support during installation for & address issues routed to engineering via ER cases & other means with the help of support from TLs and other experts within the team

• Handling of Supplier deviation requests, Site engineering issues resolution (ER), corrective actions CA

• Document management in PLM

• Champion LEAN principles and embrace LEAN by continuously challenging and improving internal process.

Required Qualifications

• Mechanical/Chemical engineering degree OR masters from well recognized university

• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in gas based combined cycle OR steam power plants

• Design know-how of Steam Turbine accessories systems such as Steam seal system, Drains, Strainers, Control and Stop valves, Vacuum system, Desurperheating system, Exhaust spray system etc.

• Knowledge of plant operability and heat balance for combined cycle plant

• Know and apply design methods, rules and tools to specify the systems/ components

• Specific Knowledge about the relevant codes and standards like ANSI, ASME, ISO, API, HIS, NFPA, HEI, PTC etc.

• Knowledge of Interfaces specially on controls systems & electrical interfaces

• Good knowledge of engineering, design and project management tools and methods e.g. GTCC-PLM, AVEVA, Confluence etc.

• Naturally good at collaboration across the teams to achieve broader objective for the business with strong sense of operational rigor & urgency.
