    Position summary

    **

    Essential Responsibilities

    As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:

    • Perform detailed analysis work on both stationary and rotating components, including static structural, modal/dynamic & torsional.

    • Deliver clear design instructions as an input into the creation of detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of materials.

    • Analyze and validate material and process equivalencies to overcome obsolescence challenges for legacy designs.

    • Develop technical specifications and work with external suppliers on the design of purchased components including heat exchangers & bearings.

    • Review critical drawings and bills of material.

    • Review and validate results of factory performance tests.

    • Provide support to the sales team to help develop proposal designs and identify project risks during the tender stage.

    • Review project specifications & reference designs to assist in developing the project design strategy.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

    • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in design, analysis, manufacturing, repair, field service, refurbishment and installation of large rotating equipment.

    Desired Characteristics

    • Strong overall technical skills with ability to perform calculations from first principles.

    • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and documentation.

    • Candidates must be eligible to be licensed as P.Eng. in the Province of Ontario

    • Experience with the design and application of rotating electrical equipment, or similar large industrial machinery.

    • Proficiency with mechanical design tools associated with structural design and stress analysis, rotor dynamics, finite element analysis (ANSYS), 3D & 2D modeling (Creo & AutoCAD), vibration analysis, torsional analysis and noise prediction.

    • Knowledge of common manufacturing processes, GD&T, and industry standards (e.g. API, ASME, NEMA).

    • Demonstrated ability to deliver on-time and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.

    • Strong written and oral communication skills.

    • Collaborative attitude and ability to work in a cross functional and diverse team.

    • Solution oriented and pragmatic, with a commitment to continuous improvement.

    • Strong customer focus.
