Most decisions fall within a defined framework, but within those guidelines the successful candidate will have a degree of autonomy and make recommendations to the business in respect of particular deals / purchase orders / suppliers.
The successful candidate should be CIPS qualified or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience, and should have a solid working knowledge of SAP systems.
Proficiency in French or other European language would be a significant advantage.
Experience of international trade including import/export would also be an advantage.
A bachelor's degree in engineering is desirable but not necessary.
Vital to the role is a proven track record of building long-term supplier relationships and trust, and in identifying, qualifying, and on-boarding new suppliers.
The role will involve travel within the UK and North Europe, and we are therefore looking for an individual who is able to work unsupervised, and to manage and prioritise their own workload.
As a service organisation, the availability of spare parts and components is vital to all areas of the business and the successful candidate should be able to develop relationships and influence across all functions.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are therefore necessary to develop an understanding of the business's needs, to clearly communicate GE's requirements to suppliers, and to ensure internal stakeholders are kept up to date with supplier delivery times, costs etc.
Flexible working arrangements including a mixture of home and office working are available, but it is anticipated that the extensive interactions necessary across multiple internal stakeholders will require the successful candidate to be in our Stafford offices on a regular basis. A typical work-week is therefore likely to include at least 2 or 3 days in our Stafford office. All employees are asked to be in the office on Wednesdays.
