In this role, you will be responsible for one or more of the following:
Shaping new combustion research programs focused on the future of energy.
Leading multidisciplinary teams of business product engineers, research team members, and external partners to invent and mature the next generation of combustion technology.
Deploying your extensive experience in modeling, simulation, and experimentation to develop and validate novel combustion technologies and analytical tools.
Providing technical guidance through effective coaching/mentoring.
Owning the development and maintenance of technology roadmaps and demonstrating accountability for a pipeline of funded projects.
Leading the development and writing of internal and external proposals.
Leveraging and growing an external network of collaborators in academia, government, and industry.
Patenting your inventions and developing a record of publications via conferences and peer reviewed journals.
Perform high-pressure and temperature combustion experiments and analyze results.
Work with other engineers in developing new combustion models and analysis tools.
Doctorate degree in Mechanical, Energy, Energy Systems or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience OR Master's degree in Mechanical, Energy, Energy Systems or related discipline with a minimum of 10 years professional experience.
Graduate level work in combustion, combustion dynamics, and acoustics.
Expertise in designing and conducting high-pressure, high-temperature combustion dynamics experiments.
Ability to investigate, model and provide critical insight into complex physical phenomena.
Familiarity with modeling tools ranging from 1st principals and finite element to high fidelity CFD
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with senior leaders and customers with clarity and confidence.
Experience developing technical ideas with external customers and a track record of converting ideas to programs.

5+ years of work experience in gas turbine combustion and emissions, including one or more of the following: fuel/air premixing systems, autoignition, flame propagation in complex fuel mixtures, combustion kinetics & chemistry, thermo-acoustic instabilities (combustion dynamics), design and evaluation of new combustion systems, and modeling of combustion systems.
Familiarity with CFD approach to prediction of combustion dynamics
Experience with using Matlab and/or Python for data analysis.
Peer reviewed journal publications.
The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $205,000 USD, annually. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
