Edison Works, the military business unit of GE Aerospace, is on the front line of developing advanced technology to support our nation’s defense. The Next Generation Products team is responsible for all future New Product Introduction (NPI) programs developing from GE Aerospace’s investments in science and technology. This is a Systems Engine Test Owner role for a significant NPI program.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for execution of engine test asset to meet program requirements.
  • Coordinate and conduct engine test design reviews and support engine test tollgates per GE standard practice.
  • Manages test asset requirements, mission, and flow down.
  • Enable strong interface between Engineering, Evaluation, and Test organizations.
  • Requires specialized knowledge within the Systems Engineering function.
  • Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.
  • Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders.
  • Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering (or a similar discipline focused on mechanical or aerothermal design) from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in an engineering position.
  • Ability to maintain or obtain a Government Security Clearance

  • Experience in aviation propulsion system integration and/or engine test

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • High level of computer proficiency
  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering related to turbomachinery design,   testing, or systems engineering
  • Talented, highly motivated with good engineering judgment
  • Effective in contributing in a structured, cross functional team work environment
  • Engineering experience in GE Aviation turbomachinery systems integration or similar systems engineering role
