Job Description Summary

The Electromagnetic Compatibility Senior Staff Engineer will report to the Hybrid Electric Electrical Systems Manager within the GE Aviation Advanced Technologies Organization. The engineer will be electromagnetic compatibility modeling and analysis for GE Aviation’s portfolio of hybrid electric products. This role is essential towards the safe and effective execution of GE Aviation’s suite of ground and flight technology demonstrator vehicles. These demonstrator vehicles serve as foundational platforms for maturing hybrid electric and other technologies central to the realization of the aviation industry’s sustainability goals in the first half of the 21st century.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Electromagnetic Compatibility Staff Engineer, you will:

  • Develop and improve electrical system models for predicting system performance behavior
  • Make recommendations for hardware design solutions and EMC mitigations
  • Actively prepare for, participate in, and document results of power electronic systems testing
  • Inform test instrumentation and execution to effectively execute electrical system testing and inform modelling
  • Provide clear, timely communication of modeling and analysis status and outcomes
  • Capture lessons learned and best practices to aid in continuous improvement of EMC capabilities
  • Define and formalize system, test, hardware, software, and human integration requirements
  • Apply and define GE best practices
  • Present results to internal (GE) and external (customer, agency, government, …) customers
  • Collaborate effectively in a diverse, global, distributed work environment

Additionally, you will responsible to continually mature your personal and professional development through training opportunities, mentorship, and formal career path definition. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering field from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 5 years industrial experience in the field of electromagnetic compatibility
