Position summary

The mission of Ginkgo’s mammalian team is to engineer new and innovative tools for gene and cell therapy. We are looking for biologists who can expand our expertise, set priorities, propose and execute experiments, organize and present data. Creativity and practical “get it done” energy in a truly interdisciplinary environment are requirements. 

Responsibilities

  • Significant experience with cell culture, in vitro modeling and analysis (e.g., qPCR, Luminex, flow cytometry)
  • Experience with the molecular biology of gene expression (e.g., enhancers, promoters, inducible transcription/translation), including vector design and construction
  • Experience with cell signaling, inflammation, or systems biology approaches a plus
  • Knowledge of lentiviruses, AAV, and packaging systems preferred
  • Experience with high throughput approaches and automation for pooled and arrayed screening preferred
  • Flexibility to share occasional weekend cell culture duties for this role is preferred

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in molecular biology, cell therapy, genetics, or relevant field with 0-2 years hands on lab experience
  • Fluency in mammalian cell culture and transfection/transduction techniques
  • Experience with inducible/sensing systems preferred Ability to independently organize, communicate, and manage deliverables and timelines 
  • Some experience translating data from in vitro experiments to in vivo study design is preferred
  • Mentoring generously, learning gracefully, daring solutions, and comfort working at the edge of the knowledge frontier are requirements for this position
