The Assistant Vice President/Vice President, Institutional Markets will join Global Atlantic’s Institutional Markets business, based in London. We are a ~20-person principal investing team within Global Atlantic Financial Group, a subsidiary of KKR. We are focused on deploying capital on reinsurance and acquisition opportunities in the Insurance Industry. 

From our founding as the Goldman Sachs Reinsurance Group, we have executed nearly 40 strategic acquisitions and reinsurance transactions, totaling more than $110 billion of assets. 

As an integral member of the Deal Team, you will engage in origination, investment analysis, diligence and execution of reinsurance transactions. An energetic individual with intellectual curiosity, strong work ethic, who takes pride in delivering high quality work product in a fast-paced environment will thrive in this role. 

You will be responsible for:

·         Strategy/Structuring/Solutions:

o    Contribute to the development of GA’s overall strategy in Europe from a quantitative / actuarial / ALM point of view by:

o    Having a deep understanding of Solvency 2 framework and local adaptations / interpretations thereof and interplay between Solvency 2 and local accounting regimes in Germany, Italy, Belgium, France

o    Assisting in developing solutions that achieve desired client outcomes under Solvency 2, whilst being compliant with GA’s risk appetite and ALM approach

§   Funds withheld vs. funds transferred

§   MV vs. BV collateral

§   Hedging / ALM design

§   Local profit sharing

o    Translation of Solvency 2 to Solvency 2 equivalent regime in Bermuda

·         Transaction specific:

o    Provide quantitative/actuarial analysis

o    Identify and present key liability risks and sensitivities (economic, behavioural, mortality etc.)

o    Assist in developing granular understanding of liability design/features

o    Build valuation models / assist with pricing and underwriting transactions

o    Contribute to deal presentations for wider GA discussions

§   To take a deeper look at implications and feasibility of reinsuring German PK business (ALM strategy, collateral, structure etc.)

§   To enhance our ability to perform a more granular analysis of the deal, improving our understanding and key value drivers

§   Analyse the regulatory and accounting implications on this transaction and thereby increase GA’s institutional understanding thereof on a live transaction

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience, including life product development, reinsurance, insurance M&A, and valuation/financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of Solvency 2 and BMA regulations
  • Knowledge of main solutions available for Life and non-Life including sidecar, funded reinsurance, VIF monetization and risk transfers
  • Strong quantitative and technical abilities, experience in actuarial modeling
  • Solid organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently as well as being a team player
  • Drive, enthusiasm, creativity and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Finance
