Additional Job Description
The Dimensional Engineer's primary role is to ensure all Body shop and vehicle level fit and function requirement are met.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide day to day technical direction to the CMM room trades
- Keep all metrology tooling (including CMM, Vision, Laser Gage, Faro, checking fixtures, ITAC & ETAC fixtures, etc.) in proper working order per specified standards to maintain PCP compliance and reduce measurement system error.
- Support plant dimensional lead by actively participate in plant dimensional team activities, set priorities and drive issue resolution
- Support documented quality checking plan and supervise personnel to ensure compliance
- Actively participate in regularly scheduled dimensional meeting to review top issues and implement issue resolution
- Maintain a shim and process change log for all tooling
- Ensure vision alarms are in place and functioning with corrective action and response plans when alarms are generated.
- Maintain Vision to CMM correlation.
- Support dimensional lead in GCA, DRR, FTQ, DRL and CPIT problem resolution activities and ensure proper communication between internal and external stake holders.
- Maintain dimensional data flow (through the dimensional data manager) to ensure integral data is being displayed in appropriate sites (CDIS, GDIS) and postings to Data Wall.
- Collaborate cross functionally with suppliers and internal customers to drive issue resolution
Qualifications -
Basic required
Working knowledge of metrology processes including scanning and CMM
Working knowledge of PolyWorks or equivalent metrology software
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) & datum strategies
Good Dimensional problem solving skills
Knowledge of Body and GA build strategies
Knowledge of BIW closures & fab processes.
Dimensional Engineering / Statistical background
Good computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Team Center Visualization Mockup to view math files
Understanding of dimensional metrics (E31, A/B/C/FVS)
Ability to work and communicate with a broad range of individuals
3-5 years of relevant experience
Basic preferred
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
