Job Description
The Role
The Controls Systems Engineer is an Individual contributor with recognized expertise responsible for tasks and work you're doing throughout the entire vehicle development lifecycle including requirements definition, systems design and implementation, testing, and problem resolution.
Responsibilities
Execute Vehicle Software Configuration Management (VeSCoM) Processes
Create test plans based off of Controls Development Plan
Perform Controls Development Plan (CDP) testing
Document CDP testing results
Root cause software issues found during CDP testing
Create VeSCoM documentation (Master 3PD, release notes, ID files, hardware dependencies, new features, known issues/anomalies, etc.) for each VeSCoM software release and upload to SharePoint
Support Vehicle Controls Integration Team (VCIT) and program Controls Manager
Report software and calibration anomalies to VCIT during development for overall functionality
Support vehicle software updates if users need support flashing software
Identify preliminary root cause and system impacts for sw/cal issues from vehicle development (buy off rides, test trips, general fleet usage, durability, VeSCoM Checkout, etc.)
Expedite root cause by monitoring multiple modules simultaneously to pin-point responsible module.
Participate in vehicle build events and buy off rides as required
Ensure safe test-ready vehicles by identifying VeSCoM level is valid.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Physics
2+ years of technical knowledge and ability in relevant engineering disciplines (e.g. Software, Calibration, Control Theory)
Strong understanding of major automotive systems and subsystems
Experience with and/or knowledge of relevant technologies (e.g. EPS, Adv. Suspension Controls, Cybersecurity, FlexRay, AUTOSAR, Electrification Controls)
Experience or knowledge of relevant tools (e.g.: Matlab, Simulink, Vector, Intrepid)
Understanding of vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition systems
Demonstrate high level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and assignments with medium level of autonomy and high accountability for results
Demonstrated ability in project management skills
Desired Skills
5+ years of technical knowledge and ability in relevant engineering disciplines (e.g. Software, Calibration, Control Theory)
Strong understanding of major automotive systems and subsystems
Software Controls/wiring experience
In-depth knowledge of requirements engineering process (FMEA, Preliminary Hazard Analyses)
In-depth knowledge of system reliability, safety, monitoring, and diagnostic technologies and processes
In-depth knowledge of embedded software development, testing and associated tools
Experience with VIP Architecture (i.e. ISO 14229, Cybersecurity, Ethernet)
