Job Description
Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.
This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-3 times per week
GM's Global Product Development Team is pursuing High Voltage System Engineers who will focus on applying GM's electrification technology to a wide variety of new and innovative applications. They will be responsible for system design requirements, execution of design, detailed analysis and design verification testing. They will also provide technical direction and product development leadership for the broader team.
Responsibilities
Synthesize component requirements from Electrical Architecture, Application Packaging, System and Software requirements.
For new or modified components, compile all vital requirement documents for the component purchasing process and provide technical expertise during purchasing process.
Facilitate and provide technical direction to the Product Development Team (PDT).
Review and approve electrical and mechanical interface design simulations, analysis, design demonstration plans and software verification requirements.
Sign off on design requirements in compliance verification documents.
Review and approve validation plans as well as the component Supplier's manufacturing process.
Supervise Supplier development progress.

Requirements
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
2+ years of experience in Design, Development, Validation and release for electronic components.
Proven global experience working directly with electrical component Suppliers.
Experience with developing system requirements and component specifications.
Experience with high voltage battery related failure modes, design and control mitigation strategies, and root cause analysis.
Ability to solve, coordinate, define, and design sophisticated systems specifications, input/output processes and working parameters.
Functional knowledge of electrification and energy storage systems.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Desired Skills
Masters of Science degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related degree.
5+ years of experience in Design, Development, Validation, and release for automotive electrical/electronic components.
Experience completing Electrical Worst-Case Electrical Analysis.
High level of competence in writing and comprehending electrical and hardware requirements and understanding of hardware and software design and failure modes in electronic modules.
Understanding of electrical design analysis and design verification of high voltage and low voltage circuits, fuses, contactors, current sensors, battery management controllers, solid state relays, EMC, printed circuit board layout, serial communications, diagnostics and application software.
Understanding of mechanical design analysis and design verification of module packaging, fasteners, injection molding, stamping, extrusions, die casting, sheet metal, bus bars, wiring, electrical connectors, connector pin crimps, sealing systems, adhesives, printed circuit board construction, thermal interfaces, high voltage creepage and clearance.
