Job Description
GM is advancing the sophistication of vehicle infotainment systems at every level of functionality and design. We are developing beautiful intuitive systems that augment driver awareness, enhance occupant safety, and elevate the traveler experience.
The Senior Infotainment Software Deployment Engineer will work as part of a global infotainment team to ensure the infotainment software is deployed to customers with high quality. Candidates are expected to have a strong understanding of automotive electronics including vehicle communication protocols. Knowledge of scripting languages like Python is preferred. Candidate should have experience and be comfortable with in-vehicle system level testing and debugging.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with the test leads, project management, engineering teams and plant operations to identify, reproduce, gather data and logs, and assist with the root cause of infotainment software issues
Execute high level testing on new infotainment software to ensure that reporting tools and log analysis capabilities are fully understood
Work as technical interface between the SW development teams and execution, release and program teams
Report and log issues into a bug tracking system, including track files and necessary steps to recreate
Serve as a support organization for the development team by assisting with activities such as vehicle prep, module reflash, issue reproduction, etc.
Develop scripts and tools to support the above activities
Additional Job Description
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related degree
Minimum of 3 years' experience in automotive diagnostics or automotive software development
Experience working on global teams
Experience operating with challenging customers during stressful circumstances
Strong analytical skills at the system level.
Strong understanding of automotive electronics software and architectures.
Understanding of automotive protocols like J1850/CAN/LIN/Automotive Ethernet
Understanding of tools to capture and analyze automotive communication logs (VehicleSPY, PeakCAN etc)
Previous test experience with real-time or embedded applications.
Good operating system knowledge of Android
Preferred Qualification:
Advanced engineering degree
5 years of experience in automotive diagnostics or automotive software development
Demonstrated experience with languages:
C/C++ or Java
Perl or Python
Windows and Unix shell scripts
Automotive electronics experience in an infotainment environment
