Job Description
As the Sr. CAE Engineer, you will lead and execute development of new engineering analysis capabilities. You will participate in Product Development teams on new / major / minor designs, providing analysis to assess performance of new designs. Develop methods for problem root cause analysis and identification. Build Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models from CAD solid models.
Additional Job Description
A CAE Analysis Engineer in the Electric Motor Dynamics and Engine Cranktrain team performs structural FEA for Cranktrain components including pistons, connecting rods, and flexplates with expansion into the area of crankshaft and motor dynamics for structural evaluation of crankshafts and dampers. Provide results and technical consultation to Cranktrain engineers. Deliver design solutions which are robust and reliable utilizing optimization and statistical methods. Develop structure concepts for early synthesis, improve production designs, provide loads for downstream users, and develop new engineering analysis capabilities.
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience with model creation and FEA analysis
- Knowledge in structural engineering, materials, thermal, fatigue, nonlinear problems, optimization, robust design and process automation
- Effective in communicating findings to internal/external customers using appropriate media
- Interpersonal skills to work in a team environment
- BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Preferred Skills and Experience
- 2+ years' experience with model creation and FEA analysis
- Experience in using ABAQUS (Implicit, ABAQUS CAE), Hypermesh, iSIGHT, Optistruct.
- Experience in using UG NX
- Direct experience applying FEA tools to cranktrain structures
- Familiarity or practical experience with the principles of vehicle propulsion system design, operation, or testing
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
- Experience with programming in Java, Python, MATLAB, or equivalent languages
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products
