Position summary

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience in a risk, employment legal, or regulatory compliance role.

  • Experience supporting multijurisdictional program/project management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in establishing strong domain expertise, exercising initiative and driving effective decision making across complex workstreams and processes to enable the organization to meet its goals.

  • Experience utilizing, analyzing and deploying data in identifying trends and in presentation and advocacy of effective decision making on compliance and risk issues.

  • Experience in working with employment law and regulations across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and to influence stakeholders and overcome barriers to implementation while establishing new processes/programs.

  • Ability to gather and consume complex legal advice and to determine its impact on policies and compliance programs.

About the job

The Extended Workforce Solutions (xWS) team manages end-to-end oversight of Google’s Extended (Contingent) Workforce (made up of temporary agency staff, outsourced vendors, and independent contractors). The xWS team is responsible for the strategy, governance, and operations across our extended workforce (xWF). The compliance team provides advice and Subject Matter Expert to Google Managers to enable them to engage/manage their xWF in a way that is consistent with our policies and with local law, across 70+ jurisdictions. We support the business in making informed decisions about how they execute their xWF strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal and external subject matter experts and legal advisors to identify, map and maintain, all external regulatory requirements related to our extended workforce and translate into clear, concise and actionable policy/compliance requirements.
  • Support the development, implementation, and operation of regulatory change management processes to support the execution of the global compliance program.
  • Build partnerships and work closely with the broader Google compliance, legal, and Global Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) organizations to understand where existing programs and sources of truth could be leveraged.
  • Provide thought leadership and collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts to mature the global compliance program, contributing to the design and refinement of a compliance tool, regulatory horizon scanning and curation, and risk governance processes.
  • Help identify, escalate, and support remediation efforts for potential compliance issues.
