Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
15 years of experience working within the advertising and media industry in industry relations, sales, partnerships, business-to-business (B2B) marketing, go-to-market strategy, management consulting, or policy.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience framing complex issues and providing structure to unorganized situations.
Experience working in complex, cross-functional environments and delivering measurable results.
Experience managing high-performing teams, preserving team culture, and working with brands, ad agencies, or publishers.
Experience working as a thought leader while building trusted relationships internally and externally and influencing key decisions and/or driving consensus on key priorities.
Understanding of the business and public policy landscape for Google and the digital advertising industry.
Familiarity partnering with advertising industry associations.
As the Director of Industry Relations, you will lead Google’s team that manages partnerships with key advertising industry associations in the US and coordinate with other regional teams globally. You will partner with industry association leaders and our customers who make up the boards of these associations on priority issues affecting Google and the industry.
In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional internal teams of Sales, Product, Policy, Marketing, Public Relations, Partnerships, Go-To-Market, and Communications to drive progress, build consensus, and communicate Google’s perspective to external partners while learning what matters most to these partners. In addition, you will work on important issues facing the ad industry today, such as privacy, measurement, responsible media, and social and economic impact.
Global marketing done right is becoming more challenging due to fast-changing consumer expectations, diversity in individual market landscapes, and the rate of technological change. At its core, Global Clients and Agency Solutions (GCAS) helps leading brands, trade bodies and marketing partners navigate this complexity so that they can continue to be the market makers who positively shape our industry. Everyday, we help our partners fully utilize Google’s products, talent and insights to advance their marketing performance and the advertising ecosystem at large. Whether through building stronger tech and media foundations, surfacing cutting edge insights or structuring industry dialogue, GCAS helps shape what’s next into now.
Develop and maintain excellent external relationships with industry association leaders for Americas industry associations and global associations. Foster trust and earn the reputation as a critical and trusted partner.
Understand goals for priority Americas trade participants and use this insight to develop joint partnership plans, identify opportunities to match trade participant needs with Google experts, and work across cross-functional Google teams to bring forward a coordinated point of view to these partners.
Advocate for and coordinate product and ads policy announcements/launches to ensure industry participants are briefed and have an opportunity to provide feedback.
Co-lead the Global Industry Relations network across regions and lead the Regional Industry Relations network across the US.
Monitor industry trends and product and policy feedback in the Americas, collaborating with Regional Industry Relations teams to develop a global view.
