Director of Engineering, Cloud Systems Infrastructure, Google Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• 10 years of experience in engineering, including experience with cloud virtualization, load-balancing, network functions, scalability, or high-availability.

• Experience managing a team of engineers.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience managing a team of 100 or more engineers.
• Experience with software development.
• Experience in operating systems and kernels, particularly with regard to multiprocessor scaling, locking, and thread models.
• Familiarity with virtual networking and storage, as well as scheduling and performance analysis/recommendations.

As Director, Networking, Google Cloud, you will be responsible for our New York site activity for Cloud Networking NetSys teams. The areas of work include site critical infrastructure systems and Cloud Network products. With extensive technical and leadership expertise, you will manage engineers across multiple teams and locations. You will also oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

Responsibilities

• Work with key stakeholders, including peers at multiple Google sites as well as teams in networking, storage, platform, hardware, and cloud storage.
• Be an engaged manager who understands what individuals are working on, have credibility with engineers, and participate in technical discussions.
• Develop diverse leadership talent on the team, focusing on developing that talent by actively engaging in career planning for engineers on the teams.
• Be responsible for ongoing product development, milestones defined in objectives and key results, key customer commitments, and direct interaction with product, customer engineers, and field teams.
• Define the strategic direction for the technology space (globally) and overall Cloud Network and TI (Technical Infrastructure) systems.
