Director, Site Reliability Engineering, Google Workspace Meetings

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent practical experience.

• 15 years of experience with system design, algorithms, data structures, analysis, and software design.

• 15 years of experience managing a distributed team of engineers, including experience growing and building teams.

• Experience conducting technical reviews into code.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience designing, building, deploying, or managing distributed systems of significant scale.
• Ability to develop and realize a vision.
• Ability to influence others using data with excellent listening skills and thoughtful, effective stakeholder management.
• Ability to work effectively on diverse teams in environments of diverse opinions and perspectives.
• Appreciation for simplicity and practicality of solutions.

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) plays a critical role in building and defining the next generation infrastructure while ensuring that Workspace is a good steward of the information users entrust to us. As the Director of Engineering for Workspace, you will drive ultra-scalable and highly reliable software systems for Google's Communication and Collaboration products.

Responsibilities

• Set the strategy for overall SRE/Development alignment. Partner with Development to steer product roadmaps and ensure reliability, advocating for the efficient, reliable, and easy use of Google's collaboration products.
• Ensure reliability of shared components used across the company, such as Google's Telephony Platform and Real Time streaming services.
• Cultivate, grow, and adopt innovative technical solutions that solve requirements for our customers and enable high execution.
• Provide technical leadership development and recruitment inside the organization. Identify, prioritize, and staff horizontals and infrastructure changes impacting the organization.
