Engineering Manager, Android App Safety

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).

• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role, overseeing projects.

• 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science or other technical related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
• 2 years of experience in Applied Machine Learning.
• 1 year of relevant experience in risk management, fraud investigation, or data analysis.

The Android Apps Safety Engineering team (AASE) develops software to ensure a safe and high quality experience for users of Android apps. We protect users in the Android ecosystem by using ML and human reviews to detect policy violations that include but not limited to: mobile-malware, and content and behavior abuse.

As an Engineering Manager on this team, you will lead, manage, and grow a team of software engineers who will build tools and frameworks for enhanced store safety and security.

Additional Information
(Colorado only*) Minimum salary of $198000 - $212000 + bonus + equity + benefits .

Responsibilities

• Design and build developer information collection and verification capabilities (Know-Your-Developer) to better understand Google Play Developers.
• Explore and identify useful signals that can differentiate abusers from a legitimate Google Play developer.
• Build end-to-end machine learning systems for developer integrity and risk management, involving data collection, storage, feature engineering, training, and serving on Google Play production data.
• Work with teams across Google to address abuse problems together, including but not limited to: Trust and Safety, Actor Trust, Identity, Graph Mining, and Trust Graph.
• Leveraging ML technologies to provide accurate predictions, while continuously adapting to every changing adversarial pattern.
