Mainframe Solution Specialist, Google Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience with Mainframe technologies (e.g. Cobol, VSAM, JCL, DB2) and their architecture and infrastructure needs.

• Experience as a technical sales engineer in a cloud computing environment or equivalent experience in a customer-facing role.

• Experience delivering and implementing board-level migration strategies.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with hybrid cloud deployments and on-premises-to-cloud migration deployments.
• Experience in infrastructure modernization as it relates to big data trends and issues within businesses.
• Experience working in cloud migration as it relates to infrastructure and application modernization trends and issues within businesses.
• Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries, build relationships and import and export talent and ideas.
• Outstanding verbal, written, and formal presentation, communication, and facilitation skills.

As a Mainframe Specialist, you will engage with our customers to facilitate business transformation, and map success patterns. You will develop materials to support new solutions initiatives to help define use cases and their growth strategy at Google Cloud. You will identify and understand mainframe markets to recommend, plan for, and address core market opportunities with new solutions and use cases. You will help ensure technical and commercial readiness of these solutions, including assets to enable go-to-market teams, and provide field feedback to the product and engineering teams to help shape product direction. You will interface directly with customers, both helping them understand mainframe migrations to Google Cloud Products and gathering their feedback. Finally, you will enable the sales team and counsel partners on the best way to position mainframe-to-Google Cloud Product solutions, explain technical features, and problem-solve potential roadblocks on Google Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Manage the technical evaluation process with Google’s customers for mainframe-to-Google Cloud Product technical sales cycles, including managing product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work and the coordination of additional technical resources.
• Identify and qualify business opportunities and key customer technical objections, and develop strategy to resolve technical blockers.
• Recommend, demonstrate, and prototype product integrations in customer/partner environments, including enterprise architectures and application infrastructure, using best practices on Google Cloud.
• Partner closely with Engineering Directors, Product Leaders, Sales Strategy, and Executive leadership to ensure solutions alignment with Engineering, product priorities, and go-to-market priorities.
• Manage relationships with sales leadership across verticals and regions and set priorities on deal coverage.
