Partner Technical Consultant, Google Pay

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

• 3 years of experience in coding (i.e. Java) and systems design, working with web services technologies (e.g., HTTP, REST, SOAP, and OAuth)

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with core banking systems and adjacent applications
• Experience with web APIs and related technologies (e.g., data security, authentication/authorization protocols, TLS) as applicable to banks, payment platforms, or projects involving open banking initiatives
• Understanding of Indian Banking Systems, APIs, and underlying technologies (e.g., UPI 1.0 & 2.0, IMPS, NEFT, SWIFT, etc.) and processes

Technical reliability and health of the Payments platforms both internal and external, is critical to the success of the payments ecosystem.

In this role, you will be the primary technical advocate representing Google Pay with our banking partners/payroll service providers, collaborating with them to provide technical inputs and recommendations on systems design and operational practices, that will help improve and sustain a high level of reliability for the UPI payments stack with Google Pay.

Responsibilities

• Be the point of contact for banks, owning and driving various reliability initiatives to improve and sustain a high degree of functional and operational reliability for payments platforms.
• Work with the cross-functional Google Pay India Payments team (e.g., Business Development, Engineering, Product Management, Partner Operations) to co-develop initiatives that will help achieve reliability goals, and own the rollout of these initiatives to respective banks.
• Work with technical teams at banks to troubleshoot issues. Help address and improve key metrics like latencies, success rates, Service Level Objective (SLOs), API health, etc.
• Analyze root causes and suggest optimizations for each step on the transaction journey. Collaborate and get input from the Google Pay technical team to formulate or validate solutions.
