Platform System Architect, Augmented Reality

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

• 6 years of experience working in a technical environment, or 5 years of experience with an advanced degree.

• 3 years of experience in technical leadership.

• 4 years of experience with mobile technologies, power architecture, cameras, mobile SOCs, display, audio, co-processors.

Preferred qualifications:

• 15 years of experience with designing mobile phones or high-volume consumer electronics products with a track record of delivering high-volume products or devices from beginning to end.
• 10 years of experience in definition/design of mixed signal ICs or developing or shipping consumer electronics.
• 8 years of experience with prototype bring-up, debugging, functional verification, manufacturing support.
• Experience with system simulation tools (Simulink, SPICE, system C, Verilog) and in building system models from ground up.
• Proficiency with embedded systems, PCB systems, microprocessor integration, experience with intra-IC communication protocols, analog design, sensor design/integration, low power design.

You will be involved with working cross-functionally with silicon, Systems, Software, Technology, and Product teams to deliver highly optimized platform solutions at a system level for the next generation of Google AR/VR devices.

The Google Augmented Reality team is a diverse group of experts tasked with building the foundations for great immersive computing and building helpful, delightful user experiences. We're focused on making immersive computing accessible to billions of people through mobile devices, and our scope continues to grow and evolve.

Responsibilities

• Lead a subset of power architecture, charging system, radios, sensors, display, cameras (e.g., supplies, display and touch, audio, co-processors), and other systems.
• Partner with subject-matter-expert and test teams to create module and system-level verification test protocols for new devices.
• Demonstrate ownership at the system level. Work with stakeholders to deliver robust, production-worthy solutions that optimize system parameters such as performance, efficiency, size, and cost.
• Create models and analytical tools to project the impact of design decisions, production variance, and candidate changes.
• Bring up and robustly validate platform hardware and support product integration teams with design analysis, risk assessments and mitigation plans, technical support for production issue debug and resolution. Perform rigorous design reviews with silicon vendors and internal Engineering teams.
