Principal Software Engineer, Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

• Experience with distributed systems and architecture, and systems integration.

• Experience in technical leadership, leading project teams, and setting technical direction.

• Experience in technical leadership in a software design domain.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience providing technical structure to teams and working closely with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps.
• Experience in technical leadership and people management (managing teams of developers).
• Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages, including but not limited to: Java, C/C++, Python, JavaScript, or Go.
• Experience in related technologies and cloud development platforms.
• Ability to lead high-level discussions on technology strategy and approach.

Our team focuses on building scalable and intelligent Google Cloud Platform, powering many innovative companies. We build tools which manage large pools of Virtual Machines, helping our customers use Cloud at scale. This includes all the automation and intelligence used to deploy groups of VMs, choose location, move between Datacenters, automatically fix in case of an outage, automatically scale with changing load and traffic, adjust amount of memory and CPU and do a lot of other things automatically for the users. This also includes other projects spanning beyond Google Compute Engine VM management, which provide management capabilities across VMs, Anthos, K8s, VMWare Engine and others.

As a Principal Software Engineer you will lead the ideas, design and development of cutting edge cloud products and components in the space of Cloud Infrastructure management to make our customers more successful.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical long term strategy for Google Cloud.
• Drive the implementation and widespread adoption of solutions.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software and new user-facing features in Google Cloud products.
• Build a team and cultivate innovation by driving cross-collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams.
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards to increase productivity across product areas.
