Software Engineer, Software Defined Networking

Minimum qualifications:

• 4 years of experience with one or more general purpose programming languages (e.g., C/C++ , Python, Go)

• Experience with distributed systems and architecture, and systems integration

• Experience with complete product lifecycle management (i.e. from concept, design, development to deployment, support, end-of-life, etc.) on networking/telco products (e.g., control and data plane)

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with SDN controllers, Virtualization, Kubernetes, and cloud orchestration systems (e.g., OpenStack)
• Experience in Layer2/Layer3 networking
• Experience in TCP/IP, Protocol Stacks, Embedded Systems, and Edge Computing
• Experience working in code profiling, performance benchmarking, and code optimization of distributed applications
• Knowledge of fast data-path technologies (e.g., eBPF, DPDK, VPP, and other kernel bypass techniques)

In this role, you will be part of Google's Software-Defined Networking (SDN) Controller (Orion) team from Bangalore. Orion is responsible for the Production Network Control, which is critical to every service in Google. You will have a unique opportunity to shape directions in the goals, technology, and team dynamics. You will contribute to solving fundamental distributed system problems specifically tailored to Google SDN controllers. Responsibilities

• Write product or system development code.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
