Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.

  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

  • 5 years of experience in Computer Vision, Camera Image Signal Processor (ISP), or Camera algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

  • 8 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Camera ISP design, 3A algorithms, or Computational Photography.

  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, and/or cross-business projects.

  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.

  • Experience in camera sensors, optics, image signal processing of mobile imaging systems, including ISP and software pipelines.

  • Experience in depth, segmentation, tracking, image quality metrics, or human visual system.

The Pixel Camera team is responsible for the end-to-end product, from research and developing the algorithms, prototyping, and commercialization.

As a Tech Lead, Pixel Camera 3A, you will work directly with Pixel phones. You will focus on auto-focus, depth computing, and other advanced computational photography features. Our mission is to keep cameras sharp and clear, develop and support amazing computational photography features for Pixel phone cameras.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $185,000-$283,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Define the roadmap and lead the development of Computer Vision/Machine Learning features used for Pixel camera 3A/ISP systems.

  • Research, prototype, and commercialize new features such as saliency, segmentation, depth map generation, tracking, and scene understanding.

  • Write product or system development code, and review code developed by other developers to provide feedback to ensure best practices (https://e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).

  • Lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to define specs, design product strategies and build solutions to grow Pixel Camera features.
