UX Research Lead, Search

Minimum qualifications:

• 10 years of experience as a qualitative researcher and/or other relevant research work (e.g., human factors, anthropologist, UX, etc.)

• 4 years of experience integrating user research into product designs and design practices

• Experience with people leadership and management

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science, Human Factors, Social Sciences, or a related field
• Experience managing and leading research teams in a dynamic environment
• Expertise in qualitative and quantitative methodological with evidence of creative research methodologies
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including presentation writing and delivery
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills

UX Research Managers are fierce advocates for the people who use our products as well as the members of their teams. You’re an expert at using qualitative research methods such as field studies, interviews, and diary studies to shape product development and influence overall strategy.

In this role, you’ll take the time to understand not just the execution side of UX, but also the business aspects of the products we build. You’ll collaborate with leaders of other UX, Engineering, and Product Management teams to create innovative experiences across all of Google’s products, leveraging your passion for brand, craft, and design quality.

You will work closely with Product, Engineering and Design, and help determine how we evolve and innovate on our product to delight users with Search in the Japanese market.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with other UX functions and with Engineering and Product Management to create innovative, usable products that people love to use.
• Be responsible for all stages of the UX research process, throughout the entire product development cycle, from inception and strategy to execution. Lead research activities, synthesize data, and craft deliverables that point to clear product actions, and ensure effective communication of research findings to key stakeholders.
• Collaborate with product leadership to define and prioritize user experience research priorities. Lead strategic research on key horizontal initiatives across core search products.
• Participate in product discussions, design reviews, and strategic research planning. Identify new opportunities for high-impact research and execute on them.
• Grow and mentor your team, creating a culture of positivity, innovation, performance, and support.
