024069 Senior Manager IT Program Management (Open)
Job Description:
Sr. Manager, IT Program Management implements strategic programs, monitors program performance, and evaluates project leaders for efficiency and accomplishments. The Sr. manager of PMO oversees the program management team, coordinating related projects, and finding solutions that improve performance at all levels within IT. The Sr. Manager should have a proven track record of successful program delivery, an ability to improve project management practices and substantial team leadership experience with a focus on team development and improving communication. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining high standards by establishing best in class project management methodologies, standards, and tools. This individual communicates to VP, IT and IT Leadership Team on all projects within the program portfolio.
Primary responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Establish the IT PMO governance structure and manage project management assignments in line with project objectives
- Develop, implement, and govern program management processes, dashboards, templates, policies, and metrics, resulting in creation of project operating model which can be replicated at speed to match scaling demands
- Collaborate with businessfunctional partners and technology leadership to assist with defining and maintaining strategic and tactical roadmap of IT initiatives
- Provide leadership with the information needed to assess and decide which proposals have the highest potential business value, impact, and strategic alignment
- Interface leaders to define project priorities, implementation opportunities, challenges and communicate project risks and opportunities
- Manage executive stakeholder communication and progress reporting
- Coordinate internal and vendor Technical Project Managers executing various projects across multiple programs
- Offer strong leadership and support to all IT project managers and teams, setting clear objectives that are aligned to the program and can be cascaded to all team members
- Monitor compliance with project policies and standards
- Seek implementation efficiencies to meet or exceed the financial expectations established at project initiation
- Ensure that there is a clear intake process and dependency tracking effort across the organization
- Participate in organizational planning processes and efforts and work with PMO counterparts within other Greif businesses and functions
- Track project outcomes realization and customer satisfaction levels through established metrics against service level. Ensure lessons learned are collected
- Facilitate the sharing of best practices and innovations to drive continuous improvement
- Coach and mentor project management practitioners and share knowledge of best practices
- Perform other duties as required
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- A minimum of 10 years of project management experience
- A minimum of 5 years of program management experience
- PMP, PJMP, PMI-ACP or SAFe certification is highly desired
Experience Required:
- Proven success in prior program management positions, managing $10M+ project portfolios
- Direct responsibility for planning, organizing and the direction of the organizations project management office and programs preferred
- Business Acumen: understands business strategy, operating models, and financials to support company initiatives
- Demonstrated experience managing project budgets and costs greater than $10M
- Experience managing multi-phase, multi-track projects spanning over 12 months. Comprehensive knowledge of full lifecycle project management, software development, package implementations, infrastructure deployment methodologies, IT transformation projects, and industry best practices
- Experience with project and change management, methodologies, techniques, processes (e.g., Project and Portfolio Management Methodology - PPM)
- Understanding of agile methods and frameworks (e.g., Scaled Agile), product-oriented IT operating models, and their implications on program and project governance
- Demonstrated experience leading and influencing across a complex, global matrix organization.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interface with senior leadership with confidence and clarity
- Experience identifying and implementing continuous improvement and enhancement opportunities within the portfolio management function
