    Our Commercial Lines Operations department is seeking a BI Developer to join our growing team.

    Position summary: Business intelligence is the aspect of data science that focuses on practical applications of consolidating, analyzing, and presenting data in a way for the business to consume large amounts of data quickly and easily in a visual way.  BI developers must be able to access data programmatically, understand the business requirements and be consultative in their approach to building intelligent options for their partners to consume data to solve business problems.  They must be experts in using BI tools to create applications to consume, translate and present information.

    This is a Full-time, Exempt role.

    Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

    • Develop BI solutions, provide reports, processes, and applications through the application life cycle
    • Collaborate with business users
    • Analyze business processes and requirements
    • Create and maintain documentation including requirements, design, and user manuals
    • Identify opportunities to improve processes and strategies with technology solutions
    • Identify development needs in order to improve and streamline operations
    • Adapt quickly to new technologies and changing business requirements
    • Translate business needs to technical specifications - consultative
    • Design, build and deploy BI solutions (e.g., reporting tools)
    • Evaluate and improve existing BI systems
    • Collaborate with teams to integrate systems
    • Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses
    • Create visualizations and reports for requested projects
    • Develop and update technical documentation 
    • Understand the broader impact of work efforts across architectural system components, critical business processes, and applications
    • Story telling & public speaking      

    Position Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical field

    • 2+ years of experience in analytics / BI development roles

    • Insurance experience preferred but not required

    • Possess a detailed understanding of statistical procedures & methods

    • Excellent communication skills in written and presentation form

    • Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office; specifically, Excel and Access

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform including Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps

    • Knowledge of SQL queries in various systems including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL

    • Intermediate or higher-level programming skills – SQL, R, Python

    • Ability to develop and automate processes

    • Strong organization, project, and time management skills
