    Our Commercial Lines Operations team is currently seeking a Project Lead out of our Howell, Michigan location.  This is a full time, exempt role. Position is eligible for a fully remote arrangement.

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    Project Management professionals are responsible for managing a wide range of technology projects of varying complexity, on time and within budget. This includes, but is not limited to, leading the development and refinement of project requirements, estimates, plans, and schedules. Incumbents are also responsible for using the multi-sourcing strategy and for maintenance of project plans. Projects may address an enterprise need or may be limited to a single business process. To further elaborate, incumbents within the Project Management job family participate in the identification of business needs and lead the planning, development and implementation of projects that utilize information technology solutions to support those needs. These individuals are responsible for refining project requirements, developing project scope, defining project guidelines, obtaining Business and Information Technology Sponsor approvals, and directing assigned resources to successful project completion. Once a project is set in motion, incumbents in the Project Management job family are expected to communicate the status of major milestones, identify and classify potential project risk with mitigation strategies and contingency plans, provide continuing direction to the project team, and conduct regular status meetings with key stakeholders to review project activities. Furthermore, Project Management professionals are responsible for managing the procedures for scope changes (i.e., change management) and project acceptance. Incumbents obtain feedback throughout the project life cycle to ensure that customer expectations for schedule, cost, quality, and performance are being achieved. Individuals serving in these roles require proven skills in managing within a matrix organization. Some members of this job family are responsible for the coaching, career development, and performance management of those team members directly reporting to them. Finally, members of this family are expected to strive to provide the highest level of expertise in the application of project management tools and techniques.

    IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

    Responsible for the management of one or more, small to large, low to highly complex project component(s).

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Project Lead: Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of one or more, small to large sized project components with assistance and oversight of senior Project Management personnel, Project components may impact one or more business processes or be part of a larger, more complex project.

    Responsibilities often include, but are not limited to:

    • Assisting the business with the definition of project component requirements.
    • Creating project component estimates that include cost, resources, time, and technology considerations, with assistance as needed.
    • Determining staffing requirements for a project component, with assistance as needed.
    • Utilizing established project standards, procedures, and quality objectives, sometimes with assistance.
    • Providing input into the development of methods, procedures, and quality objectives, including metrics for assessing progress.
    • Assisting senior Project Management personnel in project kickoff meetings, communicating individual roles and project expectations, and ensuring that all project team members have the tools and training required to perform effectively. Creating and updating detailed project plans and schedules for a project component, applying best practices, enterprise standards, and recommended tools, with assistance as needed.
    • Providing formalized, continuing work direction and leadership to assigned project team(s), including scheduling, assignment of work and review of project efforts, with assistance as needed.
    • Monitoring project milestones and critical dates to identify potential jeopardy of a project component schedule.
    • Identifying ways to resolve schedule issues. Keeping management aware of the situation,
    • May require assistance from senior Project Management personnel. - Proactively assessing variances from the project plan, gathering metrics, and developing and implementing changes as necessary to ensure that the project component remains within specified scope and is within time, cost and quality objectives.
    • May require assistance from senior Project Management personnel.
    • Striving continuously to enhance organization efficiency and effectiveness through project delivery and process improvement, diligent expense management and, leveraging technology across the enterprise.
    • Participating in formal reviews with business sponsor to confirm acceptance and satisfaction.
    • Tracking client satisfaction levels. Providing the project component team with constructive feedback as it pertains to project performance.
    • Working with development team to integrate systems development life cycle and project management process.
    • Participating in a productive working relationship with project sponsors, vendors and key client(s).
    • Assisting senior Project Management personnel in working with Vendor Management to negotiate major contracts with external vendors.
    • Applying basic knowledge of project accounting practices and procedures to a project component.
    • Updating senior Project Management personnel with project component results on a regular basis.
    • Applying basic knowledge of project management methodology, best practices, tools, and processes.
    • Providing input to senior Project Management personnel on the performance of project component team members.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:

    Typically requires 0-2 years of IT project management or equivalent team leadership experience.

    Bachelor's degree in related field specialized training, or equivalent work experience.
