    Position summary

    Our Middle Market department is seeking an Industry Solutions Specialist for our Financial Institutes and Real Estate growing team.
     

    Underwriting practice leader for an assigned territory and has responsibility for top and bottom line actions that build the desired portfolio. Operates with latitude on matters within one’s authority, seeking input from other industry leaders as appropriate. Provides technical insight and guidance to local team and leaders on accounts and execution of industry strategy within the territory. This role typically leads an industry space of 15‐30 million dollars within assigned territory.
     

    This is a Full-time, Exempt role.
     

    Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

    • Responsible for top and bottom line results in collaboration with Home Office Industry Solutions leadership.
    • Partners with CLMs to develop industry regional strategy.
    • Drives execution of plans to achieve results.
    • Researches and obtains local market intelligence, trends and jurisdictional issues to help meet profit and business development goals.

    Business Development:

    • Assists field leadership with identifying new agents, analyzing Agent Insights and developing pipelined accounts.
    • Develops relationships with key producers in the territory.
    • Coaches field underwriters on top selling techniques specific to the industry space.
    • Actively participates in local territory industry associations to increase competency and visibility within the industry.
    • Collect market intelligence (price, product, services); advocate for change as needed.

    Portfolio Management:

    • Manages portfolio for assigned territory with guidance from Industry Leader.
    • Provides input to and feedback on Industry Portfolio, Distribution and infrastructure strategy.
    • Analyzes industry financial performance and proactively manages the performance of portfolio, recommending corrective action as needed.
    • Gathers critical local intelligence that will aid in the development product, service and appetite improvements.
    • Assist local branch management in development of tactics to achieve industry goals. 

    Underwriting Development and Support:

    • Actively assists field underwriters in the marketing, underwriting and sales of accounts within the industry space.
    • Accountable for building and enhancing technical skills amongst our underwriting population.
    • Assist in development and responsible for delivering training.  Handles in territory consultation and complex referrals that are outside of field authority.

    Required Skills, Key Competencies and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • 5‐10+ years of commercial lines underwriting
    • Demonstrated capability within industry practice
    • Professional designations desired but not required
    • Ability to effectively collaborate across multiple levels of the organization including territory managers and underwriters
